Denison Dam was completed in 1944, and the 93,000-acre reservoir it created — Lake Texoma — transformed Pottsboro from a small railroad stop into a lakeside destination almost overnight. Many of the homes along the south shore were originally seasonal cabins, built light with minimal insulation and undersized systems meant for a few weekends a year.
